W tym roku po raz szósty odbędzie się wydarzenie celebrujące twórczość pochodzącego z Rzeszowa wybitnego trębacza jazzowego Tomasza Stańko, Honorowego Obywatela Miasta Rzeszowa oraz autora Hejnału, który codziennie wybrzmiewa z rzeszowskiego ratusza.
Projekt Toastu urodzinowego dla Tomasza Stańko powstał z inicjatywy Anny Stańko - córki oraz wieloletniej managerki artysty. Premierowa edycja festiwalu odbyła się 11-12 lipca 2019 r. w Warszawie oraz w Rzeszowie. W tym roku, oprócz koncertu głównego, który odbędzie się 13 lipca na dziedzińcu Zamku Lubomirskich, zaplanowano również szereg wydarzeń towarzyszących, a wśród nich: wystawę fotografii oraz trzy koncerty. Harmonogram przedstawiamy poniżej.
Mikrokosmos Tomasza Stańko - wystawa fotografii z warszawskiego mieszkania artysty, autorstwa Soni "Kokoshki" Gorczak.
Warszawskie mieszkanie Tomasza Stańko przy ul. Rozbrat od początku lat 80. XX wieku było swoistym mikrokosmosem, miejscem odosobnienia, zadumy, refleksji. Na przestrzeni lat bywało samotnią, w której mierzył się ze swoimi demonami, ale równie często miejscem twórczym będącym świadkiem powstawania wspaniałych kompozycji. To tam bezwzględnymi ćwiczeniami po 12 godzin dziennie Tomasz Stańko odzyskiwał pewność gry po nagłej utracie zębów spowodowanej genetyczną chorobą. Mieszkanie na Rozbrat, kiedyś "Królestwo niebieskie”, czyli dawna siedziba zwierzchników Świadków Jehowy, przez pewien czas było też domem dla kilkunastu egzotycznych ptaków, które Tomasz Stańko hodował w jednym z pokoi i z którymi koegzystował na partnerskich warunkach. Zawsze uwielbiał otaczać się sztuką i obcować z nią. Nie może więc dziwić obecność obrazów, rzeźb czy wysokiej klasy sprzętu audio. To tam zasłuchiwał się na zmianę w symfonii Mahlera i w utworach Jamesa Browna. To tam czytywał Faulknera, Joice`a czy Burroughsa, dosłownie "kreślił" plany na przyszłość w artystyczny sposób szkicując listę rzeczy do zrobienia czy koncertowe programy.
Pod koniec kwietnia b.r. spotkaliśmy się z Anną Stańko, prowadzącą Fundację im. Tomasza Stańko w magicznymi mieszkaniu na Rozbrat, które jest jednocześnie siedziba fundacji. Córka legendarnego trębacza otworzyła przed nami mikrokosmos Istnienia Poszczególnego, zarówno obszerne archiwa pełne oryginalnych zapisów nutowych, dokumentów, zdjęć, szkiców czy programów koncertowych, jak również samo mieszkanie, w którym wytworne dywany, obrazy, rzeźby, rośliny oraz liczne wyróżnienia za działalność artystyczną koegzystują w pełnej harmonii. W rozmowie, która jest dostępna w serwisie youtube, Anna Stańko szczegółowo opowiedziała o mieszkaniu i jego historii, a Sonia „Kokoshka” Gorczak udokumentowała fotograficznie wnętrza i archiwa. Spotkanie było elementem realizacji Stypendium Ministra Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego przyznanego autorowi niniejszego tekstu. / Bartłomiej Skubisz

6 lipca, godz. 19:00, Rzeszowskie Piwnice – koncert zespołu Kosmonauci
Kosmonauci - młody boysband wywodzący się z tradycji jazzowych, który w swoim języku muzycznym czerpie z hip-hopu, drum&basu i improwizacji. Instrumentarium, w skład którego wchodzi saksofon (Miłosz Pieczonka), bas (Bartłomiej Lucjan), wibrafon (Tymon Kosma) i perkusja (Jan Pieniążek) tworzy unikalny styl grupy balansując pomiędzy emocjonalnymi melodiami, a polirytmicznymi strukturami.
21 marca 2024 roku miała miejsce premiera debiutanckiego albumu o tytule "Sorry, nie tu". Została wydana nakładem U Jazz Me, czyli sublabelu U Know Me Records. Jest to płyta inauguracyjna sublabel. Warto nadmienić, że cały nakład winyla sprzedał się w preorderze jeszcze przed premierą.
Kosmonauci to zespół, który zagrał koncerty na uznanych polskich festiwalach jazzowych jak Jazz Jantar Festiwal, Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa, Młyn Jazz Festiwal czy w Filharmonii Narodowej w Warszawie, zyskując sobie przychylność publiczności i krytyków.
Ich koncerty są połączeniem energii oraz świeżości z niezwykłą dojrzałością wynikającą z pasji, jaką jest dla nich muzyka i obcowanie z nią na co dzień.
7 lipca, godz. 19:00, Rzeszowskie Piwnice – koncert zespołu Horntet
Horntet to grupa muzyczna złożona z młodych, lecz bardzo doświadczonych scenicznie i niezwykle ekspresyjnych muzyków - absolwentów Akademii Muzycznych w Krakowie oraz Katowicach.
Charakterystyka brzmienia zespołu opiera się na jazzie lat 60-tych, który w połączeniu z nowoczesnymi technikami wykonawczymi muzyki współczesnej i nietuzinkowej werwie daje obraz surowego, elektryzującego i fakturalnie zaawansowanego brzmienia. W repertuarze oprócz własnych kompozycji znajdują się również aranżacje standardów jazzowych Horace'a Silvera i Theloniousa Monka.
Zespół został doceniony na wielu konkursach oraz festiwalach krajowych i międzynarodowych.
W 2019 roku otrzymał I miejsce na konkursie Tarnów International Jazz Contest w kategorii zespołowej Open, w 2021 roku uznany za najlepszy zespół XXIII Przeglądu Zespołów Jazzowych i Bluesowych w Gdyni, a w 2022 roku zespół zdobył tytuł finalisty konkursu 47. Klucz do Kariery w Gorzowie Wlkp. oraz Grand Prix konkursów: Blue Note Poznan Competition, 24. Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa w Katowicach, 58. Jazz nad Odrą we Wrocławiu, Young Crocus Jazz Contest w Jeleniej Górze. Końcem października 2023 w związku z wygraną w konkursie “Jazzowy Debiut Fonograficzny” (org. NIMiT) nakładem wydawnictwa For Tune ukazała się debiutancka studyjna płyta zespołu pt. “Horntet”, która uzyskała nominację do nagrody Fryderyk 2024 w kategorii Fonograficzny Debiut Roku - Jazz.
Zespół został również uznany Nową Nadzieją w ankiecie Jazz Top 2023 czytelników Jazz Forum. W marcu 2024 zespół weźmie udział w prestiżowym European Young Artists’ Jazz Award w Burghausen (Niemcy).

Specjalny projekt stworzony na Toast Urodzinowy 2024 został zainspirowany brzmieniem Skandynawii, której przemożny wpływ odnajdujemy w życiu i twórczości Tomasza Stańko. Dla Macieja Obary lata młodzieńczej inspiracji jego muzyką były realnym, osobistym przeżyciem, po tym jak otrzymał od jazzmana zaproszenie do wspólnych koncertów w międzynarodowym sekstecie z Alexiem Tuomarilą, Jakobem Bro, Joey'em Baronem Andersem Jorminem i Sławomirem Kurkiewiczem. Z kolei współpraca Obary w ramach New Balladyna Quartet czy koncerty Tomasza Stańko i Aukso pozwoliły saksofoniście nawiązać bezpośredni kontakt z muzyką, którą dotychczas znał tylko z nagrań.
Autor projektu mówi: "Skandynawskie inspiracje Stańki stały się drogowskazem w moim artystycznym życiu. Maciej Obara and Bluish Landscapes to swoistego rodzaju synteza moich doświadczeń u jego boku oraz dalsza kontynuacja tej drogi, którą wytyczam już sobie sam. Stańko zawsze postrzegał Skandynawię jako coś wyjątkowego. Uważam, że miał rację. Co ważne, w jego zespołach zawsze dochodziło do fuzji Polaków i Skandynawów. Dla mnie to nieskończone źródło inspiracji, dlatego też muzycy w tym projekcie to najlepsze osobowości obu scen, które zapewne byłyby i Jego wyborem".

Artysta wielokrotnie współpracował z Tomaszem Stańko w różnych konstelacjach - z Jimem Blackiem, Joey’em Baronem, Chrisem Lightcapem, Arildem Andersenem, Chrisem Potterem. Zrobili wspólnie wiele rzeczy. Kilka lat temu pianista tak mówił o trębaczu: "Tomasz sam jest pewnym muzycznym światem. Jego muzyka jest zupełnie inna i domaga się odmiennej formy. Jeśli nie grasz zupełnego free, ogromnie wiele zależy od kompozycji. Kiedy piszę dla trio, tworzę pewną konieczną przestrzeń, architekturę - otwartą, ale niosącą pewną sugestię. Podobnie Tomasz. Bardzo lubię z nim grać. (...) W muzyce Tomasza jest swing".
Przygotowany specjalnie na Toast Urodzinowy recital solowy będzie podsumowaniem wspólnej muzycznej przygody Craiga Taborna z Tomaszem Stańko, okazją do wspomnień i swoistym hołdem dla najważniejszego polskiego muzyka jazzowego złożonym w rocznicę jego urodzin.

Wschodzący talent w dziedzinie muzyki elektronicznej z Nord-Trøndelag w Norwegii robi znaczące postępy dzięki swojemu innowacyjnemu podejściu artystycznemu. Styl Røstada charakteryzuje się umiejętnym wykorzystaniem laptopów i urządzeń elektronicznych do improwizacji w czasie rzeczywistym. Takie podejście pozwala mu tworzyć wciągające i stale ewoluujące pejzaże dźwiękowe, wyróżniając go na scenie muzyki elektronicznej.
Kluczowym aspektem artystycznej podróży Røstada jest jego współpraca z cenionymi muzykami.
